DC Universe Classics Batman vs. Clayface

The Fists of Clay Figure pack includes 6 inch versions of both Batman & Clayface in the usual DC Universe Classics (DCUC) style. This means they are fully articulated and feature some of the best designs in toys right now, courtesy of the Four Horsemen sculpting crew. Mattel has managed to turn DCUC into the modern standard for superhero action figures, and these two toys help to reinforce that position by offering a fun combination of characters will appeal to a lot of people. This two pack is available here at Past Generation Toys right now for $27.95, less than $14 per figure.
As you can see from the packaged photo above, Batman features a really unique feature: splattered mud on his costume. It's a nifty touch that brings these two characters together and makes them fit with one another quite naturally on any shelf or in any mock-battle. There is also a batarang included for batman, which is easily lodged into certain parts of Clayface's body, making for some particularly convincing battle scenes. It's great that these two figures were made to interact with one another.

Clayface's action feature is something rarely seen, especially in more recent releases: rubber arms. There is a wire inside each of his two large rubber-coated arms, meaning they can be posed in almost any way you'd like. It's necessary to be careful though, because if you stretch them too far in any direction or twist them awkwardly, they may tear. But with proper care, they do seem durable enough and offer a cool simulation of his clay-morphing powers.

Measuring in at just over 7 inches tall, Clayface is heavy and generally bulky, making him a great value compared to similarly priced figures. Batman is about 6.25 inches tall, so he's an average sized figure that's appropriately in scale with the larger Clayface. This gives Clayface a large presence compared to standard DCUC humans, and he'll really stand out in any display at his own distinct height.
There is an amazing amount of detail present on both of these figures. Batman has all the famous costume elements sculpted right in, as well as extra intricacies like cloth wrinkles. Clayface is a real work of action figure art, with the amazing design of his flowing and pooling mud look. Both of these figures have faces with crisp features and dynamic expressions.

These toys also feature enough articulation to be posed in a lot of different ways, so they should entertain for some time to come whether in the hands of a collector or a child. This two pack contains two enjoyable toys, if you don't already own them or previous releases similar to them. And if you're a fan of Batman, superheroes, or even huge toy monsters, then the DC Universe Classics Batman vs. Clayface figure pack from Mattel has something for you.
