Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime is one of the most recognizable characters in all of the toy world, and this figure captures his updated image from the new Transformers Revenge of the Fallen movie. This is a humongous figure that will tower over any other Transformers you might have, or even make the perfect centerpiece to your new Transformers collection. Head on over to Past Generation Toys and take a look at this figure, I promise he's worth your time, but if you don't believe me already, continue reading!

Optimus comes packaged in his robot mode, and I can understand why, because he really looks amazing. Compared to the Leader Class Optimus from the first movie, this version is a big improvement. There are less dangling elements, he's much slimmer, and looks almost exactly as he does in the movie, which is extremely difficult with a transforming toy. Any kid is going to instantly recognize this toy, and whether you're a fan of the movie or not, it's hard to deny how well this toy was designed in robot mode. He looks fantastic!

There are also some pretty fun action features worked into this form, including my personal favorite, his deployable swords. Two giant orange swords swing out of his wrists at the push of a button, making him battle-ready and pose-worthy. He also has "mech-alive" technology, which means parts of his body move around in conjunction with one another, giving him a pretty interesting look in action. Finally, he speaks the words "I am Optimus Prime" at the touch of his head along with the appearance of a red glow, so kids will enjoy that feature. Unfortunately, he does talk with very little force, so during transformations, it might occasionally get annoying when he repeats this phrase over and over again. Despite this, I'm still glad they included something extra that certainly wasn't required.

The fun doesn't stop with those extra features, because this robot is also really well articulated. he has joints in every spot you'd expect, and even a few will surprise you. Optimus Prime is more poseable than most any Transformer and this will allow him to stand out on your shelf in a dynamic stance, whether he's amongst other Transformers are your collection of movie toys. None of the articulation is broken or too loose, so everything works well and leads into his transformation perfectly.

As wonderful as his robot form is, this alternate mode is one of the best examples of a Transformers vehicle I can think of. Hasbro really took their time in designing the extremely complex transformation that allowed them to arrive at this beautiful toy. There are no clues that would lead you to believe this semi-truck was designed as anything other than a truck. No gaps, weird angles, or robot bits are sticking out in unsightly places. It also plays well because the wheels spin freely and there are appropriate sounds that can be played by the press of a button on the back of the cab. The amazing paint work that brings all of his flames to the forefront is just another fitting piece to complete the puzzle.

Whether you're a hardcore Transformers fan or just a movie enthusiast, Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime is a toy you can enjoy. He's is extremely well designed in both of his modes, providing hours of entertainment and a perfect piece for display. Couple that with durability and his monstrous size, and you've got a figure worth your purchasing dollar. If you haven't already considered buying this toy, now may be the time to make a transformation and start.
